Hello!
I was lucky enough to spend saturday with a really good friend of mine. I was going to the mall with her and she was getting her hair done there. Well to my suprise she treated me to a conditioning shampoo and a hair cut.
We went to this salon called Tony and Guy. My hair stylest was a man name Jeremiah. He had those round hole earrings that create a hole in your acutal ear! Very thin, and not very tall. He was not what I was used to in a hair stylest. I was..out of my element. There were many men stylists in this salon, more than I've every seen before at any salon. So maybe the name is apt.
Little did my friend know, that I experience a lot of panick in salons and especially on short notice. I'm thinking to my self...."Oh crap." But I say yes and gave a big thank you and steeled myself to this suprise.
I'm now in the hands (or should I say scissors) of Jeremiah. He seemed to be the main hair "guru" because there were interns there watcing his every move on my head! They asked questions like "Is that the frankie?" or "Is that the inverted Frankie?" or "Are you using the feathered cut or blunt?" Honestly I felt like I was in an L.A. elite salon. "Would you like a beverage Ms. Karla?"
I even got a two man hair blow out!! Jeremiah wanted an assistant drying my hair because it is so long and thick, and he was trying to make up time. Ha ha.
I have to say I did pretty darn well with this impromptu treat. I had a little panic...I did. But I quelled it and persevered. I don't know if I could have persevered a couple years ago...but with my new found strength and acceptance...I was able to be there in the moment and enjoy the pampering.
Jeremiah was a skilled cutter, because my hair has never looked or behaved so good after a hair cut. I was pleasently pleased.
Take risks out there....for the rewards are worth it.
