That's What I Think 12/28/2011 7:19:07 PM
Well I've been divorced now for 6 weeks. Feels good. It got only somewhat messy...right toward the end. But overall we were amiable and reasonable and worked everything out so we needed no lawyers. I think this is how it should be done. He and I were never mean to each other during this process. We were friendly and caring to each other.
I wish him well. It is good to see him move on. He already has a live in girl friend. So he seems to be doing all right!
Today was a big driving day. I had a 40 minute drive to my job, then back to my partners office and then off to pick up our dog from my aunt. Kinsey (my dog) was staying with Auntie while we were on our trip. But the drive took almost an hour and of course an hour and a half back...it was raining really hard and the freeway felt like it was filling up with water. The kick up from other cars really inhibits your vision. I got scared and could feel myself getting panicky. What do you do in situatioins like this? I wasn't driving...so I was relying on the person driving to keep me safe. Can we trust that? I have to remember to always ask for what I want. It is okay to speak up and say what it is you need. They might not always want to do what you are asking, but usually out of concern they will. I asked if we could please quit passing all the semi-trucks and just settle at one speed in the far right lane. I feel safer there and really it doesn't slow down your trip, so why not? Sometimes I will ask for them to pull over into a rest area. I sometimes need to get out of the car and walk. Breathe.
This is a way of taking care of yourself. Don't be afraid to speak up for your needs. It is the only way to overcome the fear of not being in control. It is kind of like taking back control to ask for your needs to be met.
I wish you all a happy new year! All my kids are coming out to have a day with us! Should be fun. I haven't seen my kids all together in months.
