thinking of the book 6/25/2004 6:09:01 PM
contemplating the next move I'm on an even keel right now (gee...how long will that last?) and contemplating the next book.
I know I was supposed to be putting out the "Pink Jade" book...but my collaborator seems to have vanished into the ether...so I'm backburnering that for a bit (maybe next lifetime? maybe)
"The Angel" has been rather pathetic in begging me not to do the memoir...seems she has yet to level with her new hubbie about her past...also, I am uncertain how to address the last year or so of my life in the book...perhaps I should just cut it at some random point? But where would be the fun in that? Of all my past relationships I think only the Mad Gypsy would be happy with the memoir, although she does not come off the best. Of course, I come off like a complete disaster zone...so maybe I don't want it published, either.
"Diogenes". Hmmm...E.J. keeps shoving me to do that and I keep shoving back that I don't want to do it. The other project he keeps pushing is code named "The Case for Immortality" and it is just a collection of the absolutely best works I've ever done...sort of a sampler for those who think no poetry has been written since Frost kicked. Dunno...seems kind of screwy to me.
Maybe I'll just go on hiatus for a bit...the world will do just fine without me. I think the other 6-7 billion denizens of this planet can, if they all work together, fill the gap. Right now I'm not feeling heavily disposed towards much of anything except...er...nothing. Even God seems like just an acquaintance right now. I am sure this is a preconcious anesthetia (sp?) to get through this time...but I am not happy with being so disconnected. I am used to feeling in colours that taste like thunder, not craning my head to hear disingenuous voices.
Maybe it would be a good time for a Rimbaud? Now there's a thought.
I noticed the other day that the hardbound edition of "101 Great Love Poems" is outselling the softcover. Go figure.
I would like to do one book, just one, that I am happy with.
"PanthEon" has too many soft spots.
"F.A.U.Q." has some great points and some lousy fillers.
"Love Gods..." is probably the strongest so far. But still lacking...something.
"101 Great Love Poems", well done but still not the book I wanted it to be.
Harrumph. E.J. just called and I read him this entry...he got all excited about my doing a farewell book entitled "American Rimbaud". I think he needs to up the dosage of whatever it is he is taking.
Gotta go, I am sure there is something I can do somewhere for someone. For now, however, I have reason but no purpose. I am finally coming up against my greatest demon. Myself. If this were a novel, now would be a good time for a twist of fate. Or a brian tumor. I am like a drinking glass in the desert, an anachronism and an irony.
