dreams and nightmares... 4/3/2005 12:02:40 PM
Twice I awoke last night to dreams of a soul twist. Very unusual, as I practice lucid dreaming as therapy and thus am not normally subject to "nightmares"...so I figured I'd share them, at least in abstract, here.
In the first I was walking through a schoolyard with my friend Alan when my cell phone rings. A woman's voice tells me she has a call for me from the XXXXX (privacy please) City Jail...I recognize this as the town where my Ann, ex wife, told me her latest girlfriend lives. I tell her to put it through, but they lose the connection. A few moments later my phone rings again and it is, according to the display, from the right area code for them to be calling back. I answer, feeling concerned that something has gone wrong, and no one responds to me, but I can hear a soft breathing, as thought someone is on the phone, listening, but choosing not to respond, either because they can't or they are waiting for me to say something. I recognize the breathing as my ex-wife, Ann...no matter what I say, she remains silent. The dream fades.
In a later dream I am taking my daughter (Peri) to a concert with some of her friends, in a large school bus painted white. I drop them off and she decides that rather than sit with them, she's going to climb a large stone staircase and watch the concert from a balcony. I go to park the bus, but lose the transmission while going up a steep hill in traffic and have to swerve to avoid backing into the cars behind me, sending the bus, backend first, down a steep hill covered in trees and shrubs. With luck I reach the bottom of the hill only slightly banged up, and I am able to restart the bus and pull it onto a dirt road and work my way back to the ampitheatre where the concert is. I run up the stairs to let Peri know what happen, but she has already caught a cab home, having grown bored with the concert, although she left her picnic basket behind for me to bring later.
Strange, and vaguely troubling, both of them.
On the bright side...the books are progressing nicely. Spoke at length with my first ex wife, Jan, about the projects I am working on.
The new flyer for this month's readings came out nice and I left stacks around town...someone keeps stealing the one I hang up at the public library. Don't knwo whether to be flattered or annoyed.
