press release feedback Almost exactly 12 hours ago, my press release regarding my master plan for world domination...er...my schedule for releasing three books in the next 100 days, was unveiled.
In these first twelve hours, I have seen more than 17,000 people access the news release. Boggling.
The release has been "picked up" an estimated 180+ times by a media outlet. Whom? Dunno. Maybe every ezine with a circulation of six (I remember being on the mailing list for a poetry ezine once. I got there because I'd slept with the editor. Don't look shocked. How do you think I got all those great reviews? Anyway, they claimed a zillion subscribers...the truth was, the vast majority never read the thing, just deleted it when it came in their email. Many were on the list who had never really applied to be, their email addresses had been "harvested". That's one of the real problems with ezines, circulation is difficult to document.)
I've gotten some nice feedback, although my favourite so far has been a solicitation by some web based outfit basically promising that if I give them about $500 they can get me on some radio talk shows. Yo! Media pimps, I got your microphone, right here!)
Anyway, this has been so effective, I am considering doing these on a regular basis, but put together a collection of familial and familiar poets to share in the releases and share in the costs of putting it together and putting it out (you can do it for free, but now that I see what a little money does to the process, I'm hooked...)
In other news, there was this pair of legs earlier...(time enough for that later, to paraphrase Henry Plantagenet "I could have conquered the world but I had women in my life.")
There has been near-unanimous, fervent and strident approval for "The Compleat Panther Cycles"...I hate overshadowing "INVOCATO"...but what good is an Illudium Q-37 explosive space modulator in your arsenal if you're never gonna plug it in and light it up? Hmmm?
I got word the article about me in the Times-West Virginian will be coming out tomorrow. Excitement plus...I haven't seen an advance of it, but I've heard a rumour they play up the "rock star" anecdote. Great...all I need is a little pressure before the readings. Slow, grinding, acidic, polished steel and cast iron inexorable pressure, crushing down upon me...cracking my bones and forcing the very living tissues to run like molten wax.
Aw, who are we kidding? I thrive on this crap. I can headbutt my way through a mountain when the blood is alive, and for the second time in my life, I have been given a chance at redemption.
