Historically, this day has been a fulcrum point.
No, really.
My brother, Mark, was born on this date in 1966. I was so fascinated by my baby brother that I quit the basketball team at school to stay home and help take care of him. This marked my last involvement in team sports.
It was on this date, a few years later, that I dislocated my ankle, ending a promising career as a runner.
And it was on this date that I started the ill-fated affair with Arachne, that would eventually be the bloody core of the demise of my first marriage.
Oh, and it was on this date that I checked myself into the hospital for "exhaustion" a few years back, after the Panther bailed on me in the middle of my first divorce (it is bad when you can provide numbers to such events...not "my divorce", but "my first divorce")
There are other events that have come to pass in my life on this date, some as recently as a year ago, but some I just can't reveal as of yet, and may not, while I and certain parties remain in this sphere. Trust me when I say, this has been a fulcrum day.
So, what will happen this year? Damn, I wish I knew. maybe, if I make it through the day, without doing something catastrophically stupid, I'll let you know what unfolds...
I rose early today, 5 am. Did a clean up of my living space, throwing out a fe articles of clothing that had gotten threadbare. Switched on the tube and found "The Way of the Gun" on Bravo. Despite the fact the lead characters are unremittingly amoral (Benicio del Toro and Ryan Phillippe play them well, brutal losers), it is an interesting film to watch. Violent, unwholesome, but like a slow motion auto accident. I don't know many actresses who are as willing as Juliette Lewis to be unglamorous. And James Caan always has a gravitas to him that makes up for any weakenesses in his character's design in the script.
Anyway, I digress.
The fates are coming and I have to get dressed to meet them.
