Blast. These things come around so often, you;d think they were once a week or something.
Survived the weekend. Some good writing, upbeat, literate and aggressive. Bene.
A musical friend mentioned the possibility of their band using me as a break filler. I had to laugh at that. I remember filling breaks at the sports bar in Venice. Talk about couer rage under fire (and not friendly fire, I might add) reading romantic poetry over the hockey games. But, I learned a lot...and maybe picked up a few unexpected fans. I'd do it, of course...am also considering approaching the Black Bear about starting a poetry night.
Sales are up on "101 Great Love Poems"...its the holiday season. I was considering putting out another similar book before Valentine's Day, but will sit on that for now...have enough irons in the first place with the two books already scheduled. "The Morgantown Suite" is sitting under Meghan at ArtsMon gets back from maternity leave. "Invocato" is shaping up nicely. Am considering a contest to design the jacket, although I already have a design in mind.
Was approached about new covers on a couple of the older books...including a clever notion to reset all the covers to simple monochromatics. PanthEon in black, "from an unexpected quarter" in red or violet (Luscher fans, think about it), "love gods of a forgotten religion" in forest green or deep blue, "101..." becomes problematic...I like the goldenheart on the cover...besides, I was thinking of doing "Invocato" as a monochromatic (sort of my "white album", eh?)
Did some minor tinkering with the website. old friend, who is not web-savvy, called to find out my web address...I forget not everyone lives a virtual life...
Oh, emotional/sanity note...am sleeping well, no bad dreams, stress level down and am probably as close to at peace with myself as I have been in many, many years...there is a sense of freedom in being...free. Being able to take responsibility for your own actions.
