creditor relationships 1/16/2005 4:41:20 AM
I'm going to have to write a poem or article on "creditor relationships" (hear that, preconcious mind? get to work)...those relationships in this life that seem defined on "what are you going to do for me, today?"...I can count at least four in my life, including some people I would never publicly call on it...but they take so much emotionally, and leave behind a nagging stain of doubt as to whether they actually have the capacity to love. or, at least, to you me.
had a good chat with Jim C., down at the black bear last night...God, I miss talking to people with substantial brain pans...it seems C.S. Lewis' warning about how smart people are viewed as undemocratic came true...the one thing that separates us from everything else, we denigrate...smart people are viewed with suspicion, they get to be the shadowgods behind professional underachievers like the current President, because we wouldn't want to elect a man (or woman) smarter than us...no, that would be scary.
we talked about the possibility of life on Titan, Norse mythology, childhood geek passtimes and the recent article on me in the DA. then we discussed how to approach intensifying the local arts scene. some ideas beginning to coalesce.
I hated the picture in the DA article, made me think about what I am going to do with my hair. I 'tailed it for last night out...the two biggest issues seem to be the length on the sides and the colouration. I am opposed to touching up the grey, and shortening it along the sides will both take care of the loose stuff and reduce the apparent amount of grey, as that's where most of it is. too much to think about.
I miss Sydney. and Perky, and Violet. but, through them I also achieved an epiphany on how some people view me. if you have a pet, and it had a bad habit, like pissing in boxes...eventually you get rid of it. there are people who adapt, people who help others adapt, and those who return you to the pound if they don't get exactly what they want without effort. I (and everyone), to some, am a pound dog. and, although one day the very nature of the flesh is to die, I have infinite possibilities for escape. time to do so, rather than waiting for some spoiled, ill-bred or ignorant child (in the generic) who doesn't understand what's involved in having a pet entails.
oh, and the Steelers won.
all in all, not a bad day. two epiphanies, a conversation, a reflection and a football victory. and, I wrote. two to Morgantown, and a really kick-ass piece to Abstra.
