Insights into how the series came about. Somebody asked me the other night why I would write a thing like this. He seemed to think I was doing something that was unspeakable.
It is sort of hard to explain but I have always known this story. It has been in my head forever. It was just a matter of getting it down on paper and once that began I knew that it had to be done in a series instead of one book. There is just too much to be told in just one book. There are too many theories, too many different opinions, too many different stories written by people from the time of Jesus' death until today. To take the most important things from all this and work it into my story, it would boggle the reader's mind. I decided to let the heroine of the series learn along with the reader. At the beginning she knows nothing about the life of Jesus except what she was taught as a child. She is surprised to discover that the Da Vinci Code wasn't the first book written about Jesus being married to Mary Magdalene. She is further amazed to discover that it wouldn't have been odd for that to be true. As she investigates and learns about how the Bible as we know it today was put together, she realizes that many important scrolls and writings were purposely left out.
When I start to write it is as if I am not the one telling the story. It is almost as if I am channeling it from someone else. I see the things as they happen in a little window in my mind as I write. I never know exactly where the story is going to go until I get there.
