The Desposyni. Updates on this series and how it is written; feedback from readers; comments and emails from pro and con. It is almost the end of October and the first book of the series THE FOLLOWERS OF THE MAGDALENE has been out since the end of April. Although I haven't sold a billion copies, no one put me up for a Pulitzer, and I haven't had an offer for a movie script yet, I think I am doing ok.
I have been lucky enough to be at the BEA, be advertised in several magazines for the literary community, be featured in Atlantis Rising and an upcoming feature in Romantic Times Booklovers Magazine as a new author. My website: www.TheMagdaleneChronicles.com has gotten a LOT of hits and I have gotten some interesting feedback.
I have been contacted through email by people who claim to be the reincarnation of Mary Magdalene, Jesus, Peter, and other major players in the Biblical stories. Who am I to say whether or not what they think or believe is true? Several have said I have touched a spot in their heart. One even said I had described her own visions (although how I did that, I am at a loss to say).
I have also been contacted by people who claim descendancy from Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene, and other "Desposyni". Do I think there are descendants? Of course I do. That's why I wrote the book. Can I prove it? Who could? The names of those who claim descendancy read like any other family names. But they are not all Sinclairs like Mr. Brown suggested. The Sinclairs claim a right to the information of the Holy Grail but as far as I can find out, they do not claim descendancy. More like descendancy from those who guarded the secret. Although, perhaps in the guarding, they married into the actual bloodline along the way. The Desposyni have long been accepted in history as verifiable. In various histories there are writings about the surviving family of Jesus. They were systematically hunted down and disposed of by those in power at the time. Even the first Pope of the new Christian/Catholic Church employed these means to rid himself of the people he feared would take the power of the new religion away from his hands. There have long been writings in other countries speaking of the family of Jesus and how they sought refuge in other countries after his death. Mary Magdalene may never have gone to live in France but millions of people think she did. She has thousands of churches dedicated to her in France, England, and other countries. There are many legends that speak of her arrival and of the child or children she had with her. How that equates to my series I can't say. I am only drawing on legends and stories that have been made available to me through many sources to tell an interesting story.
The Merovingians play a large part in the legends of Mary Magdalene. They were the first ruling family of France and it is conceivable as well as possible that this family would have been a part of hiding someone so important. It is also possible that she married into this family or her daughter married into this family or her son did.
The Bloodline of Mary Magdalene may or may not be the Holy Grail but isn't it really interesting to read about it and speculate?
