I found a way to connect with my past that actually works This Friday my niece insisted I try out Face Book., I really didn't want to but she said "anyone who IS anyone is on Face Book" and so I signed up. People have been finding me for three days; I didn't even know I was lost.
I don't live where I grew up. Few of us have that luxury. We go away to college, into the service, marry someone from someplace else, are sent somewhere by our business. We rarely live where we started out. It has been so interesting to hear what my friends have been doing over the last 40 years. In fact, they haven't changed that much; they are just older like I am.
Some of the people I didn't even expect would remember me. I wasn't very memorable in high school. We are in varied places all over the US. So far, no one has contacted me from abroad. It's a trip back in time.
If you have never tried Face Book you won't know that you can trade friends, acquaintances, photos, and talk wall to wall all by computer. It's kinda nice. I am even enjoying it. And you get a lot more messages than on email. I don't know why that is.
Just a few weeks ago I found out about YouTube. I had balked at checking it out. I still havent been on MySpace and Twitter doesn't interest me at all. But this Face Book thing is going to catch on. I am sure of it.
