I certainly would like to write a travel piece about Disney World. I could write a really good little bit about some really interesting things, except that I have signed about a million forms stating that I won't.
Intellectual property. It really bites. I could write about a whole lot of really cool little insider bits concerning how many people go in and out, statistics of sales of different food items, policies and regulations, but if I did then I would get fired and perhaps prosecuted. So there goes my brilliant travel piece.
However, in place of what is ultimately not to be, I have developed another good story idea. On our tour of the Magic Kingdom, one of our guides told us a wonderful story of betrayal, false love, murder, treachery, trickery, and lots of other cool stuff, as an example of 'keeping the magic alive' for all the guests at Disney World. His story was fantastic (he told it to us during one of our fifteen minute breaks as we sat in a small resturant in Frontier Land) and from it I am developing a story of my own; one that might very well turn out to be my next novel, since the conditions are ideal. Madeline City is almost ready for publication (though the same cannot be said for my checkbook), and while here in Florida I can revisit the physical place of inspiration as often as necessary. Yes, I do feel that my writing will soon undergo its next level of growth, its next evolutionary step.
