Doctors, doctors everywhere. 6/1/2007 9:29:47 AM
This morning, bright and early I found myself on my way to another doctor’s appointment. I have a doctor for everything. I went to see my general practitioner this morning. He diagnosis symptoms and then sends me to another doctor. These specialists are only paid for by the insurance company because he does the paperwork.
I jokingly refer to him as the Jack of all trades but master of none because if it is more than a cold or the flu he needs to send me on. For instance, I have a heart specialist. I also see a man about a urinary problem and believe it or not a different specialist for a kidney problem. I would think the urinary problems would all fall under the domain of the kidney specialist. However there seems to be a different doctor for every organ in my body.
By the way, did you know that your skin is really an organ? Check it out. It is.
I even have a specialist for a sinus condition and another for allergies which affect the sinus and bronchial tubes, lungs and even my heart. On top of all of this I am now taking eighteen different medications. Most of them are heart related but a few others are to help other organs in my body. The fact is... I do believe they are all a problem of a heart that does not quite send enough blood supply to these organs.
I was just thinking. This is not too far off but imagine taking your car to get it fixed and the mechanic writes you a referral to another specialist because you have a fuel injection problem. Then another because your fuel line is clogged and another because the wheels need to realigned. It’s almost that bad with the upkeep on your home. There are exterminators, plumbers, roofers, painters, and so on and so on.
Now if the plumber needs to put in a new sewer drain he will need to call in help from another specialist. The excavator comes to dig the hole so the plumber can get to your drain pipe. I tell you my friend; everything is becoming more and more complicated in this world we live in.
I don’t know how I got to talking about cars and houses. The temple of God is my body and he seems to have a lot of help. Doctors keep multiplying.
Maybe I will simply relax and enjoy another day which God in his wisdom has given me.
