Hi this is Lew Duffey:
I like to kid myself about being rather corny and those of you who have read any of my stories or books probably agree. The fact is that being corny is not such a bad thing. I like movies like, “Harry Potter,” “High Spirits,” and “Pleasantville.” See I really am headed into my second childhood.
I like to laugh. Laughing is good for the heart and mine needs all the help it can get. I am sure you read where laughter lowers the blood pressure increases the heart rate and in general helps to circulate oxygen throughout your body.
A movie that can keep me laughing is a lifeline for me. My first novel, “Immaculate White Smoke” is a comedy with a moral. “Adventures of the Angels” is a sequel which may not be as much a comedy as it is a wonderful story of faith throughout the centuries.
“Rebirth of the Dogwood” is simply a compilation of memories of my childhood and experiences when raising my own children as well as many poems of love and hope. When we give up hope we lose something that is very important for our spiritual survival. It was inspired by a Dogwood tree in our front yard which had withered and we had given up hope for it. We should have had more faith. The tree evidently did. It made a wonderful comeback. It didn’t grow back as a tree, though it came back as a beautiful bush; pink flowers and all.
What I am trying to say is that my writing is an attempt to look at life and see positive things instead of negative ones. If I make you laugh; all the better but I really like to write wholesome books that stay clear of the horrors of this world.
I must admit though, that my next novel takes place in the roaring twenties. It may not seem to be anything more than an action thriller but I am leading you on. I already know where the end takes us. I’ll tell you more about that later.
