I like to live what is. That simply means when the skies are clear I enjoy the beauty of the fluffy clouds that hang high overhead. When it rains I enjoy the rainy day, too. After all we need both to survive. It’s Saturday Morning. The sun is shining brightly and there seems to be no wind or rain in sight. Whether this is good or bad is a matter of how one looks at it. Here we need rain but I have online friends in Texas who have had too much rain. Isn’t it a horror story how the elements can go from one extreme to another?
My past is full of wonderful memories and others that I would trade in flash. I have spent time with my family, hiking, riding bikes; going to amusement parks or the seashore and I have spent way too many hours in hospital beds. I have had heart surgery and late night trips in an ambulance to the local emergency room suffering from chronic congestive heart failure.
Through it all, I am still here. Life to me now means more than ever. Maybe when life throws these obstacles your way they serve to make you more aware of the blessings you have received. At any rate, I know that I have learned to slow down, enjoy life and savor the moment.
It is only too bad I did not learn that when I was younger. Maybe that is where that old saying comes from. You know the one I mean. “The trouble with youth is that it is wasted on the young.
Live for the day, my friend. Every day is meant to be savored, enjoyed and lived to its fullest. This is how we satisfy our lives when we grow older and find that we are looking back more than forward.
Every time we find ourselves saying, “Oh, if I had only done this or that,” it is a reflection of things we missed in our past life. The wonder of growing older is that every day you wake up and start over again. “Today is the first day of the rest of my life.” I am determined to live it for as much as I can and make it mean something to me and those I love.
