Well, I am not really overwhelmed but I could be if I let everything I see and hear on the news get to me. Let’s see, where do I begin? My mother always said, “Eat your vegetables,” but they may very well have ecolli. Well, that means no more spinach for me.
“Get outside and soak up some sunshine,” they say but be sure you use the right sunscreen because the sun now causes skin cancer.
“The rain replenishes the soil,” but the rain is now acid rain.
“Take your medicine like a good boy.” Right! Have you ever taken the time to read the disclaimers on the bottle?
Our meat is said to be treated with carbon monoxide so it does not show it’s age so we have no idea how long it has been laying in that store before we bring it home. Coffee has caffeine in it so it is considered risky at best. Don’t drink cola but the bottled water we pay so much for at the store is really tape water which is simply filtered. Sometimes you wonder if they even bother to filter it. Who will know?
“Don’t use your car so much,” they say. “You pollute the atmosphere.” The problem is there are no more Mom and Pop grocery stores on the corner and the nearest chain grocery store is miles away. You find yourself wondering what you are buying anyway, some of China’s leftovers?
I’ve heard a saying, “If it is fun it most likely it is immoral, illegal or sinful.” Add to that; “It might kill you.” Don’t eat the food. Don’t breathe the air. Don’t go out in the sun. Have I forgotten anything? Probably so.
You know what? I think I will just live and enjoy life. There is one absolute. None of us are going to get out of this life alive.
