This, you might say was a year of rebirth for me. This was the year that the young man who had not long before graduated from high school, joined the U.S. Army and found himself physically handicapped and going in and out of hospitals to have a physical impairment corrected would be taking another giant step. He took that walk down the aisle. The one where you walk down alone and walk back arm and arm with the love of your life. It was April 4th. 1963. Ann and I became Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Duffey Jr. What a wonderful moment that was. After my time in the service and after two and a half years of operations and physical therapy I went back to school and became a radio announcer. These were indeed the happiest years of my life. I loved radio. I became a disc jockey and had a show that I, myself had grooved on when I was in high school. I played rock and roll.
Kids would call in and I got to know many of them on a first name basis.
Two years later I became the father of a baby boy and my goals in life had to reflect the need for higher income so I became sales manager for the radio station where I worked. I love this too. I would produce and sell advertising ads to outlets and community services in the area. Life is like that, you know. If one sits still and never progresses he never betters himself. I will write more about my life so please check back. I will close today with this thought. Looking back on life is like wondering what would my life be if I had not been willing to change?
