Our Christmas Dinner 12/23/2007 6:45:16 AM
Life has a funny way of changing things. We didn’t wait till Christmas day to have the kids and grandkids over for our Christmas dinner because Ann works on Christmas Eve night. She had Friday and Saturday night off so we spent those two days getting everything together, including the turkey, trimmings and I made the Cranberry Sauce. We got a tree, decorated it and strung lights all over the house. Everyone enjoyed themselves and we were among those who enjoyed it most. I guess when you are a nurse you cannot take time off, even for Christmas day so we celebrate it when we can.
It is always fun to get the grandkids together but I must admit it is also fun to send them home. I slept really well last night. Our oldest is in the third grade and he has an inquiring mind. He reads better than most third graders and he loves to share his knowledge.
His brother is just beginning to learn. He’s in kindergarten. The youngest of the three boys of my youngest daughter is a live-wire and he was really wearing my daughter out.
My son and his lovely wife gave us our only granddaughter. She is a ballerina. And Beth, my oldest daughter brought our youngest grandson. He is two. Do I need to say more? It is fun to watch him learn. He love to talk but some of it is jabber. We were singing Jingle Bells last night and he was singing along. We listened carefully as we sang. In the mist of the jabber, little by little he is picking up on the words.
Everybody exchanged Christmas presents but we didn’t open them. That we will save for Christmas Morning.
