And the hits just keep on coming! 6/15/2007 8:49:34 AM
That is a wonderful thing if you are the team at bat but if you are the pitcher you see it as a sad and lonely experience. No strike outs, just homeruns. The next thing you know the manager is walking to the mount. Is going to pull you from the game or just reflect for a moment and try to help you regain your composure. This is not just baseball. All of life is that way. Have you ever wondered while you are trying to better yourself that maybe… just maybe you are doing it at another’s expense? We could drive ourselves crazy if we dwell on that too much but the fact is that if we see a guy sitting at an exit from a fast food store and we are already stopped we could offer to let him get in the lane of traffic ahead of us. He would be grateful, I’m sure. The trouble is, the guy behind you may feel a bit put out because he has been riding your bumper because you are doing the speed limit and he is in a hurry and has no time for such foolishness!
There is always the possibility that you are doing him a favor. If you had let him pass you would see him sitting by the side of the road with a car behind him sporting red flashing lights. Of course, we have no way of knowing.
If you are at a ballgame you know there will be a winner or a loser. There is no tie. That means extra innings until one team breaks the tie. In real life it is much the same. The secret, I would suppose is to be a good winner and when need be, be a good loser.
This is nothing more than food for thought. I am not sure what the answers are to human nature and how to avoid negative feelings toward others. Today there is drivers rage, sex crimes, racial and spiritual feelings that do nothing else than cause more of the same.
If the guy behind me in that line of traffic is a little upset, I can live with that.
The guy who just wants to get out of that exit needs help. I am going to give it to him if I can do safely and quickly. We need to all think like that. No matter his religion, the color of his skin or what his spiritual beliefs are. My spiritual belief tells me to help where I can.
