why I blog....and what I blog about. Even now as I sit in my red leather Lazy Boy I am working. I cannot stop. I don't want to. Which is worse; I don't know. I am compelled to work even though I am technically retired and my husband tells me I don't "need" to. But I do. I "need" to have an income that doesn't depend on anyone except me. So, I freelance. I love it!
I have so much information stored in my mind that I sometimes think my "hard drive" is near its capacity. I am a voracious reader. If it was printed in the last 40 years I have probably at least tried to read it. I retain most of this stuff. I don't know why but it is up there somewhere and ready to come out my fingers on my computer keyboard. It isn't enough that I write my own books; I have to ghost for others who don't have all the skills. My friends, several of whom are writers too, can't understand my fascination with ghosting. It's pretty simple. I can write whatever it is and take pride in it and not have to talk about it later with a reviewer or a tv host; I don't have to do signings and I will never have to "give a class". Does it bother me that someone else takes all the credit? Nah! Been there; done that; got the tee shirt. I prefer the quiet of a deck overlooking the ocean or my porch with all it's flowers and windchimes to worring about facing a crowd. I don't really like people that much.
Yes, I am married. I have a son and a 4 year old grandson. I like my daughter-in-law. My parents are deceased and I have a sister who is older than I and looks just like me. Other than seeing my sister, favorite niece or my son and grandson and daughter-in-law, I am happy to see old friends twice a year; next door neighbors twice a week and do my own thing the rest of the time. My husband is just like me (only older...LOL).
I live vicariously through books and movies and don't miss pushing my way through crowds to get my thrills. We lived in Las Vegas for about 20 years. It was excitement to be in a 24 hours city when I was younger. Everything stayed open all day and all night and doing things on a whim was the "thing" to do. Now that I am older, I don't need all that excitement. I need security. I don't want to wake up and find out that my renters didn't make their rent payment this month and therefore I can't make my own bills. That's why I freelance. It's a steady income. It isn't complicated. It is something I enjoy. So call me crazy!
