That's What I Think 8/14/2012 6:50:58 AM
Good morning. I have been gone for a week. I spent the last week working in Gresham, Oregon for my old boss. The little I was paid did not compensate for the spending I did to be there, but sometimes it's just not about the money.
I spent yesterday in the ER. Severe abdominal pain and lower back pain. I had lots of tests run, Blood, urine, Pap exam, and a CT. Now that CT thing was scary. The wonderfully nice CT Tech told their may be side affects to the contrast they were going to inject in my body. "Oh no." I exclaim. He said they are not bad but that he wanted to prepare me. First affect: Metal taste in mouth. second affect: Hot flash Third affect: A sensation of peeing. I suppose I could handle those.
First of all, contrast?? I had just heard a bad thing about contrast and how people have died from the reactions. So my panic level went way up. Plus you lie on a hard strip of plastic called a "cot" and go through a huge doughnut hole. Slightly claustraphobic! Up goes the panic. During the procedure one must hold ones breath. Great, I have't done this since swimming lessons! Panic some more!
I had no choice but comply. So in goes they contrast, and immediately I have a flushing sensation! Affects 1 throught 3 did not include flushing. PANIC! Immediately after the flushing I began to get bad pain in my left arm! What the hell? I said to them, I am having pain in my left arm!!! Am I going to die? I'm assuming the contrast has given me a heart attack. I push through the pain and holding my damn breath. And my wonderfully nice tech asks me if I'm okay. I tell him "No, I have pain now in both arms and both legs from the knee down." He is puzzled, this has never happened before. Figures.
Why me, why do I experience the weird shit? I have a panic attack. It takes my body about 15 minutes to recover. I am visibly shaking and scared. They take my vitals and my vitals are real good. So the assumption is I had a reaction. Whoopee. :-(
This is why I get anxiety when going to the doctor. Shit happens that can not be explained. And then it creates panic.
So I'm told later, than my HUGE fibroid tumor is dying and this is what is causing my emmense pain. The doctor suggests a Hysterectomy. "SURGERY?!!" Oh God.
I now have to see an OBGYN within 48 hours. I could be having surgery this week.
So, yes I'm scared, unhappy, and feel crappy to boot!
