A New Found Freedom 4/16/2008 4:32:11 PM
I have learned I can go either way. I can clean houses for my groceries, or I can assist the high end shopper through assisting at an elite shoppe. I was taken aback today when I took a moment to reflect upon my journey in the past four years as compared with where I was directly standing.
Looking around me, I was engulfed with pleasure at the worldly beauty in the shoppe in which I stood. Some of the world's finest crystal and china delighted my eyes, and I am happy to be a regular in that shoppe. Prisms of color danced around the room with the gaity of the color displayed, and finery was embellished everywhere.
Then I remembered that it was only four years ago that I actually found myself inhabiting a women's shelter. This is a topic covered in one of the chapters in IMPRINTS. I learned much in that time zone, especially about having nothing. In the time thereafter, I spent time employed by a local gentleman cleaning his house in order to gain my groceries. Despite my college degree and experience in piano teaching, I found myself surviving by befriending the vacuum cleaner, the mop, the dust rags, and all other cleaning products. It was a nice home, and I praised the Lord in song as I cleaned.
What a trip and journey. Much has happened in the time in between. I have learned I can go either way. I can clean houses for my groceries, or I can assist the high end shopper through assisting at an elite shoppe. Certainly, I have a preference. But I see and now know through experience, that I can do either, and I can be happy either way.
Your grace, Lord, has made this possible. Thank You, Jesus, for setting me free from the tangles of the world. Thank You for setting me free from the tight control that would dictate I can only be happy in such and such a setting. The victory is Yours.
