The Day After Ike 9/14/2008 8:54:00 AM
Tomball was really spared major damage in Hurricane's Ike path. First of all, let me say THANK YOU to those of you who have sent comments to me.... I love you for it. It really means alot to me.
Tomball was really spared major damage in Hurricane Ike's path. I'm know finding out there is flooding damage down south of the city, but overall, there is not major damage that I'm hearing about. I'm seeing a downed tree right across the street, and I'm seeing major dangling branches that I worried about flying into my double door during the storm. Thankfully, we were spared.
The town of Magnolia north of here had some damage due to the high population of trees. I have students of there and I'm hearing about that tree damage. There are more RV parks and recent developments of modular homes. However, the mayor of Houston is using Magnolia as an example for 'neighbor helping neighbor' as he has seen the people out giving assistance rather than being apprehensive about strangers.
I'm just thankful this storm has not been as extensive as Tropical Storm Allison was. I lived in Houston when Allison went through. Now the pictures of I10 are beginning to look the same. I can only be glad I live in such a high territory. Tomball is in a high point of this metropolitan area. All in all, we're okay.... and I'll be glad when I can get out and about again. But for now, I'm following the word of the authorities. I'm staying home and out of the way.
