Candid level experiences 5/5/2008 6:48:05 AM
I reach my students and readers on a very candid level... Whew!
Three book signings in a row followed by a specialized piano recital for my advanced students, and I am finally coming off the fast lane. Thankfully, I have customers entering the elite shoppe asking about my future signing on May 18th at the Starbucks at the Premium Outlet Shops. Then, I think I will rest awhile.
My students did so well yesterday! It is a constant reminder of what I am truly to be about. I know with no uncertainty nor doubt whatsoever that I am to be about sharing my musical gifts as a teacher. Unfortunately, Tomball is not nearly as awake to the fine arts as is necessary for full financial independence as a cultured teacher, but it is definitely improving. Bach and Mozart will be known here! Mordents will be understood! Hopefully, I am making some headway, and certainly, my students are now sharing their musical gain in the world.
I am thankful that the Lord has given me the gifts to reach my students and my readers on a personal level. I teach on a very candid level sharing my own stories and my own experiences. I do believe it assists my students with their own struggles. I saw it yesterday as one student struggled with a piece. I knew instantly that she would think of the information I had given her a day beforehand.
And I thank God that I am able to reach my readers by writing on such a personal level. Writing about my own struggles with the evolving grace poured out is only sharing God's victory given to me. It is no drudged up story about Stevie. It is a joyful, even if painful first encounter with a testimony of God's victory. Consider the cross. What agony there! - And yet: Consider the joy of Easter morning! - Without knowing the agony of the cross we cannot know the glory of life given to us by God through Jesus Christ.
I hope and pray that I will always be able to retain this first hand point of view in recounting with zeal and passion what God has done and is doing for me. The story is a living testimony.... not always pretty..... but well worth sharing for the reality given. In the reality shown, others are able to relate, and that is the point.
