why I wrote Aunt Sugar's Guide to the Tea Party Movement for the Conservatively Challenged. I admit I am a Conservative with Libertarian leanings. I do not understand the working of the Liberal mind at all. I have friends I have just discovered are dyed in the wool liberals. I would never have believed it. I'm from the South. We are some of the most conservative people in the world. It is in our blood. On the other hand, we are born with a tag on our toe that says DEMOCRAT. Being democrat by birth, one has to become a republican by choice. At time, this just isn't easy. The last few years, however, have made it perfectly clear that being a democrat means being a lefty; a liberal. I just can't be one of them. I have values. They have been instilled in me since I was conceived. I can't just throw them out the window because the democrat party has gone socialist. Yes, I know what a socialist is. I also know what a marxist, maoist, fascist, communnist is. I don't want to be any of them. I want to live in the land of the free and the home of the brave. I don't want to live in the land of the "free lunch and the basically inert". So when Valerie Jarrett said on television that someone needed to write a pamphlet on the beliefs of the tea party movement just so the liberals could understand them, I stepped up and accepted the challenge.
