People do read blogs, so I should write here once in a while at least.
It's about 5 weeks since hip replacement surgery now. It can get boring here. Thank God I have Bill (we have each other). We are married 46 years now. Had ups and downs. Had heartbreaks and times of feeling a million miles apart. The original committment has held. We have both always believed we are in this marriage for life.
We are older now, and mellowed. The family upheavals we survived have been hard, but all have changed to at least some extent as we've lived and grown as a family.
God is here --- always --- to strengthen, guide, hold my hand.
Sometimes even He seems to be missing, but it's at those times that I can stand on the truths of the Bible.
"I KNOW that my Redeemer liveth," as Job said.
"I will NEVER leave thee or forsake thee," Jesus said.
"When He has tried me, I will come forth as gold." (Job)
So I press on toward the goal as in Philippians, pursuing a closer knowledge of God and a better following of His will.
The hip still hurts, but I am using a cane most of the time instead of a walker. Usually take a pain pill at bedtime, and some aceteminophen during the day.
I'm sick of wearing the "teds" support stockings required after surgery. If they didn't have that stupid little hole at the toe, they wouldn't be half as bad.
Bill continues to be my right hand. I am so gratefulfor him. He bought me roses of many colors when I was in the hospital, and signed the card, "to my Connie, with my love, from your Knight in shining armor." That's what I called him when I spoke in the little church in Shamokin on Mothers' Day.
My little world is far from trouble-free. seems cancer and other ailments are all around our family. Still, God is on the throne, and as I read this morning in "My Utmost for His Highest," by Oswald Chambers,
"He bruised His own Son. Why should He not bruise me?"
As long as He is in my life, at my side, loving me and guiding me, I can face whatever He permits and believe He will bring good results out of seemingly bad circumstances.
