Everyday problems seem trivial when giant problems come along. Nobody likes to see kids suffer, but they do. We can only pray and trust God to do what's best.
I didn't hear from Cindy today. She's my oldest daughter, mother of Jason. Jason had a fever yesterday, and was put on antibiotics. He's having headaches and some nausea as he continues to take the chemo pills. Also, his knee is hurting badly. Cindy said it has hurt off and on since he wrestled with his older brother. They xrayed it, and it looked okay on the xrays. Next, they will have a bone dr. check it. They do not think it is associated with the leukemia. Jason couldn't put his weight on it, so they got crutches for him.
My daughter Sue packed up a lot of assorted gifts we bought, and mailed them to Jason today. Each one is wrapped separately--everything from a whoopee cushion to a remote control car, from silly putty to a cool baseball cap, each one with a funny or silly poem on. Sue's the one who found a pink gorilla in a state 500 miles away, too. But each one pitched in for this box of surprises. We have a great, supportive family. Like the Bible says, "when one member suffers, the whole body suffers." It also says, I think in Psalms, that God sets people in families. I'm glad for the one He gave me!
And glad for the Authors' Den family, too! It's amazing, what wonderful friends I've found here! Thank you for your willingness to pray for my family. I love you all!!!
Here's Esa's report, which is not what we wanted to hear.
it's hard to write today. the seed that we have been so worried about looked larger today than before. they dont know what to think other than it turned from seed into a tumor. so, what that means for us is radiation, or removal of the eye that she can see out of. he said that we need to start thinking about what we will do. they are going to watch it and if next time it is bigger, than we need to decide. he said that it might be an inflamation of some kind, and maybe could turn out to be ok, but he said he never saw it like this before. he said that the seed/tumor is too far in to do a radiation disc, which is safer than the beam. so if the seed/tumor gets bigger than esa will never be the same. radiation this young in life will affect bone growth in her face, so one side will be smaller than the other, and could lead to more tumors throughout her body. removal would make her blind. i dont know what else to say. if you remember to pray for her please pray for a miracle, and that her eyes will stay stable. i want to be positive about this, because our doctors cant tell us for sure what will happen, but both of those options are so scary to us if it turns out to be a tumor, not just an inflamed dead seed.
