I almost forgot to let you all know that Jason did indeed come to Pa, and did hunt with Pappy Bill.
He wore a coverall his Dad had from work, along with layers of warm clothes underneath it.  He wasn't too comfy walking in it.  His brand-new boots were kind of heavy, so this boy had a few disadvantages to contend with!
Bill said Jason's suit made noise with every tiny movement he made, and when he moved his feet a little in the tree-stand, it was like stomping.  He tried to be quiet, and had even practiced sitting still for a long period of time.

He was disappointed that they sat so long; he had pictured them stalking the deer while sneaking through the forest.  The deer are scarce in this area now, so there's not much chance of finding them unless you are sitting motionless.

Sorry to say, the hunters didn't get any shooting in their 2 days in the woods, but they saw eight deer, which was really good, and Jason got to brag to his friends back home about his hunting trip.

After Jason and Mom Cindy went back home, Bill got a button buck a few days later.  He made venison stew, which we took to a potluck dinner at our church.  The guys really mop it up.  Bill also baked his made-from-scratch bread, which is the perfect go-along for the stew.  Yes, ladies, my husband bakes bread; try not to be jealous, because your husband has his own good points, I'm sure.  And if you don't think he has any, start making a list right now!
