FROM THE MOUTHS OF BABES…
Only a true Union County person can relate since the 'Swap Shop' is a place where a lot of buying and selling takes place--a bargain house on the radio! Enjoy! Last week, I enjoyed the privilege of escorting my 9 year old granddaughter to Vacation Bible School. One day we were riding to church in my Explorer listening to our Contemporary Christian CD’s when Gracie suddenly piped up and said, “Maw Maw, when are you going to stop listening to this kind of music and start listening to the swap shop?”
I turned the volume down and looked inquisitively at my young granddaughter and said, “do what?” and she repeated her question. I laughed out loud so hard that I thought I was going to lose it when she said, “that’s what all the old people in my family do—sit around and listen to the swap shop.”
Once I regained my composure, I assured my Gracie that if listening to the swap shop was a prerequisite to getting old, then I would never go there. Still smiling but with all seriousness, I told her that good Lord willing, she and I would be listening to this kind of music for many years to come.
