thoughts about how restoration can and does take place in our lives and in the lives of others too! This morning I woke up thinking about how generously God has restored my health. After going toxic on the anti-convulsant medication in 1994, life became a fog. I could not retain information well and seemed to drift from one unsettling job to another until 1999. This is the year that I underwent brain surgery and God completely restored my cognitive ability to the point that I've actually written and published three books. This is an amazing restoration and I have to thank and praise God every day with a heart full of sincere gratitude and adoration.
Just today, as I walked out through my neighborhood for my usual stroll, I came upon a squirrel crumpled on the edge of the road. At first, I didn’t know if he was dead or alive, but as I approached closer, I noticed that his tail moved. I cautiously bent down and rubbed the scruff of his little neck. He flinched as if he was afraid, but I spoke gently to him and continued to stroke his back. Still afraid to pick him up, I booted him gently with my foot and he’d move a few inches until he and I successfully got him off of the road. He still lay there, crumpled and bruised, but alive. Then I bravely picked the little guy up by the scruff of his neck and moved him into the nearby yard, placing him gently underneath a towering oak tree. As I turned to walk away, I silently prayed for healing to take place and for the vitality of the squirrel to be restored.
Feeling confident that the squirrel was safe, I resumed my usual stroll out through the neighborhood, all the while praying for my furry friend to be restored to health. I couldn’t help but feel a bit anxious as I topped the hill on the way back from my journey, returning to the place where I laid the squirrel earlier. I was overjoyed to see that the squirrel was gone and my that prayers were answered. God did restore the strength and vitality needed for my furry friend to resume his journey through life.
I guess the bottom line is that He will do and has done…the same for us. All we have to do is ask, believe and receive.
