Waking Thoughts... 8/16/2008 5:04:26 AM
Thoughts of an incredible character that brings about an amazing comparison...sort of a sequel to yesterday's post ...
Enjoy!! This morning I woke up thinking about the 'Incredible Hulk.' Do you remember this guy? My son absolutely adored this show when he was small and mimicked him often, standing with his small legs bent and tiny arms outstretched into a muscular pose growling all the while. Can you visualize this cute little blonde haired toddler of about 4 years old? You may have had one too!
Anyway, I recalled how the star of the show, Bill Bixby would get this strange look in his eyes and then he'd run away to be by himself. The next scene showed Bill crouched over as growing muscles began to ripple through his back and arms while his shirt ripped into shreds.
The part that captured my attention this morning was the fact that Bill always seemed anxious to find a place to hide before this happened to him. I was reminded that I used to feel the same way when I was plagued by the fear of a seizure. When an aura began to creep into my being, those first twinges of fear and dread, my first thought was to run and hide. However, sometimes the aura would be so intense, the feelings so overpowering that I could only huddle in my chair and allow the oppression to take over my body.
I am sure the most dreaded result would take place as I went into a blank stare and shuffled a hand or foot in the process, as my mom described these experiences to me. the fact remains that I was like Bill Bixby in that I was afraid this would occur in front of someone that did not know or understand me. The fact was that I was powerless to make them understand and I felt like people would be afraid of me or shy away and never want to be around me again if they knew my secret.
I am so thankful that I don't have to experience those episodes of fear anymore...no more auras...no more intense feelings of dread and wondering if I actually blacked out or if I just thought I did. And you know what else my friend, I'm glad that you probably cannot relate to this post. But you may know someone that can.
God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7
