'Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.' May you be richly encouraged today! Last Christmas, a friend gave me three sparkling, new Christmas ornaments, each with a different word engraved. The golden words on the crystal glass read, Believe, Hope and Love. On the day after Thanksgiving, I decided to decorate the tree that my husband and I carefully selected the day before.
As I began to lift ornaments out of the delicately packed box, I raised one shaped like a small plate that read, "Sister, Best Friend Forever' underneath a bouquet of sunflowers. "Where did this come from?" I wondered. "And how many times had I placed this decoration on my tree with little thought?"
Next, I picked up a Christmas card that came with the glass ornaments and read these words. "We Love and appreciate you. We also, Believe with you in the Hope of eternal life through our Savior,Jesus Christ.
Needless to say, I experienced quite a 'moment' as these events unfolded. Then, I gently placed the Christmas card- because it included a tie ribbon, right below the sister plate decoration.
As I momentarily allowed the sadness to engulf me, I was joyously reminded of how I know, really KNOW that I will see my sister again one day. And on that day, she will be walking and talking with me--no longer trapped in a body that refuses to work. And, to God be the glory!
