You Can Never Do A Kindness Too Soon! 10/11/2008 4:40:33 AM
Thoughts concerning a random act of kindness... This morning I read about how a friend of mine listened to the radio and decided to follow through on what she heard. New Life 91.9 is the name of this inspirational station. The idea was to go through a drive thru window and purchase not only your own meal but the car behind you as well. New Life offered a flyer to download and give to the cashier to hand to the recipients of the free meal.
Can you imagine the surprise and joy that followed in the car behind my friend? I can hardly imagine anything like this happening in this day and time when everyone--including me --tends to be self-centered and not focused enough on the needs of others.
My friend said that when she returned home, a man came by with a truck load of steel racks to hold the abundance of 'give-a-way' items that she stores within the confines of her home-based ministry called, "With Love From Jesus." Joy reaches out to the homeless and needy though this ministry and she's a blessing to so many of the less fortunate in this walk of life. I could go on and on about her giving heart, but I think you get the message.
Rick Warren teaches that if you want to receive a teaspoon ful, then give a teaspoon but if you want to receive a dump truck full, then give a dump truck load away! Get it? Got it! Good!!
Bottom line is that I have to admit that this random act of kindness certainly made me think today. What can I go out and do for someone else, completely anonomously, to make this day a little brighter for them? Any ideas?
