Divine Encounter 6/18/2014 3:15:53 AM
A bad day without a spouse can turn into a good day with God's divine guidance and direction. If you've ever lost a spouse, you know that there will be good days and bad days. Most of my days are pretty good, however when bad strikes, it hits hard!
This first Father's Day without the love of my life was a painful day and it started out that way. All I could do was cry for the first hour of my awakening. Then I recalled my husband saying, "Stop crying or you'll make yourself sick." Really? I thought. Then I realized how accurate those words were. I got up, got myself together and went to church. Truthfully, I did not feel much better after celebrating fathers...even those gone on at church.
That evening my sister in law called to invite me to go to dinner with them. I declined sharing my pain and realizing that I simply would not be good company. I chose to go out alone and pick up a few things from Costco. On my journey back, I got a hankering for Subway. It was a hot, humid day and a cold tuna sub was right up my alley!
I turned into the parking lot noticing few cars in the lot. "whew, that's exactly what I needed, not many people around on Father's Day," I thought. When I entered I noticed a couple ladies dining alone and one of them looked familiar. After I picked up my food one of the ladies spoke to me. She said, "I've thought about you so much over this past year. I lost my husband 2 1/2 years ago and I know what you're going through. My friend does also" she said as she introduced me to Margaret.
Wow! Only God could have planned and orchestrated such an encounter, don't you think? There I was at the end of a miserable day opening up my heart and sharing my hurt with a familiar old friend and perfect stranger! What a comfort they were to my discouraged heart! To God be the glory!
