A tribute to a local legend. Occasionally, we are forced to think deeply about life and death. A true pillow of faith passed away this week in Union County--a 93 year old pastor who was like a dog on a hunt for lost souls. He was bold in his faith and love for Jesus Christ and today he is in glory!
When I first went to work at BCR, Rev. Vance Edwards would feebly walk into my office, sit and chat endlessly about his incredible love for the Lord and people. I can easily recall the glint of passion in his eyes as he retold countless stories of years spent in the ministry. In Union County, North Carolina, let me assure you that Vance is leaving behind a long trail of legacy--to God be the glory!
Part of the legacy that Rev. Vance is leaving behind is about honesty and integrity--two of God's favorite qualities in His children. Honesty makes us learn God's requirements and strive to fulfill them. Integrity--being what we say we are--like Vance Edwards--keeps us from claiming to be honest while living as if we don't even know God.
Honesty says, "This is the Shepherd's way and Integrity says, "I will walk consistently in it."
Psalm 25:21 May integrity and honesty protect me. For I put my hope in you.
