What a Two Weeks! 4/23/2012 8:41:20 AM
Essay and update on broken leg, writing, and family things. I didn't blog last week, it just seemed like there was so much going on. Let's see, today I can put some weight on my leg. I'm walking around slowly and carefully with one crutch, then coming back to my chair and putting my leg up. Of course I am still in the boot. I will be for at least four more weeks. That being said, my daughter started to stoop down and something in her repaired knee popped. She is seeing the ortho doctor today. Her daughter Katlin, came out of the van wrong on her leg and she is seeing the ortho today. They say its just a bad sprain, but she has heard that before. If her leg is broken, it will be for the fifth time. Then to top it all off, my husband who has been waiting on me hand and foot, missed the bottom basement step and fell. He banged up his knee, landed on his bad shoulder and has been extremely sore for two days.
Our son Brian's best friend lost his wife suddenly this past week. Only 40 and she left 6 children. One is only 8 months old, and the 3 year old toddler has brain cancer. It was a massive heart attack. She was a wonderful Christian woman and while it is comforting to know she is in Heaven and not in pain any longer, it fills my heart with pain to think about the Daddy who now has to be both parents and still hold down a job to support his family. Our son and his family traveled to the funeral services and helped support Duke through this tragic time. Brian also supplied the music for the memorial service.
I did get out this week. I went to the Hope Academy Awards Assembly. All four of my grandchildren that go there received Honorable Mentions, Honor Roll and High Honor Roll recognition! Then I spent some time with my first grade class. It seems they have all grown inches and inches since I was able to see them last!
I am also keeping busy with my two freelance clients. Might as well cause I'm sooooo stuck in this recliner! I'm also working on Peaceful Water, which is the third book of my trilogy. I worked hard this week to get my first novel "Bitter Water" formatted and presented to Amazon for publishing. I am happy to say I have orders for both books coming. Yay! I'm still working on my poetry book, "Simply From My Heart" and am hoping to get it submitted some time this week. By the time I can get around again, I will have all three books to have at a book signing! That's exciting! My precious MIL will open her home for a book signing in Pilot Knob Missouri. My books have proven to be real popular down there.
