Hopeful for New Beginnings Soon 6/10/2014 6:50:17 AM
Changes are hard on everyone in the family, especially for the kids. Change is in the air. The OP now stands until mid-November. He gets visits with granddaughter once a week for two hours with a supervisor. They had been forced to move because the mortgage was too high for her to try to keep up. House went into foreclosure and is still hanging over her head. The first move was to a large house but questionable neighborhood. Things were pretty calm during the winter. We had the worst winter and it kept thugs and bad neighbors in their own homes. But when spring came, the true nature of the neighborhood came out. They started having bad experiences. One day my 9 year old granddaughter went outside. A boy older than her came out of the house next door and said "I want to fight someone." He then hit Kenzie in the nose with a closed fist. She had to be taken to ER to make sure her nose wasn't broken. Now they are scared.
The house is not air conditioned, windows are painted shut and even if they could open them, they are scared of intruders. Kids next door continue to harass the kids if they go outside. Calling them names, throwing rocks and generally being bullies. I heard them one day, I was over there and our kids were walking past their house from the bus stop after school. The kids next door came out screaming and yelling at them to get off their sidewalk! Again names were called and of course the kids came in and stayed indoors. I was there, it was unbearably hot with just a few fans to stir the hot air around.
Another time, they were loading their van and their big dog was let out of the house unleashed. Chased the kids into the house and the last person in didn't grab the door to make sure it was shut and the dog followed them into the house. They had to get out of that neighborhood.
Searching for a better place to live was again in order. This time I get involved and help to find a nicer house in a much better neighborhood. School is a good school too which is a plus since they are not going back to Hope Academy. The great move needs to be done all over again. Smaller home so traded more room for safer neighborhood. Central air, and windows that open too.
Moving was chaotic while Heather tried to work full time and get things ready to move. Packing got to the point where things were picked up and tossed into any open box. Led for quite a bit of confusion when doing the unpacking!
The important note is they are now safer and in a nicer home. They are not quite settled in but they can sleep at night feeling secure in a house where the windows can be opened for fresh air and the AC can be turned on for comfort. Thank You Lord!
