Ah, the End of Summer !! 8/30/2012 2:44:52 PM
Thoughts about summer ending and kids going back to school. Summer is winding down. Not once did I openly complain about the heat because I will remember it with longing when we are in the throes of winter!
The good news is, I have constant contact with children again. Not only do four of my grandkids attend the school where I volunteer, but I also work with a little over 50 first graders. They are so awesome! They change so much through their first grade year. They go from barely being able to write their name, to writing letters and paragraphs in May.
What makes my day? A hug in the hallway from one of my grandchildren. A hug in the classroom from one of my "adopted" grandchildren, and the funny little things they say. Wednesday one of my precious first graders said, "Grandma Sherri, you look so pretty today." I said thank you and she continued on to say, "and I love your necklace and earrings!" I said "do you like my rocks?" First grader looks at me with grave face and said. "They aren't rocks, Grandma Sherri, they are beautiful stones." Put me in my place!
Blessings to be thankful for are all tests results came back negative for any problems. Very happy about that! Pool has started again and I am still shooting just two times a week. I really enjoy what I do and the rewards it brings to me emotionally.
Still doing some freelance writing and trying to work on my third novel. Peaceful Waters hopefully will be finished and for sale by Christmas. {Fingers crossed, and prayers going up.}
I'm learning a lot about my father's side of the family. Been able to see some old photos, even some of me. And I feel like I am getting to know my cousins and have a family I never had a chance to know. I'm grateful for that. I am interested in looking up the family tree as soon as I have a minute to breathe!!
