Blessings Unlimited and Answered Prayers 6/21/2014 7:29:14 AM
It is all worth it!! I have been so busy so there's been no time to actually catch up with the blog. Still blogging about the ordeal of a long, nasty divorce case and custody battle. Last weekend, some tremendous people blessed us with a room full of furniture for Breezy's new room. It was overwhelming the love and generosity they showed to us, complete strangers! It just proves there are angels living among us. Thank you Roy and Janie, your gift of love will never be forgotten.
We got everyone settled in to the new house and began working on our summer project to get the girls settled into a room in the basement. Don't freak out! They are so excited about having a room alone AND a living area they can do what they want in with a TV set. (again due to the love gifts from Roy and Janie.)
Cement walls were patched, sprayed down with bleach, power washed and painted with Kilz. Tiles were scraped from the floor with a borrowed tool from another good friend, thanks Rick George! Two bedrooms, closet area and living area are planned. Since it is a summer project for the kids and I, we were not too concerned about getting it ready fast.
Thursday morning changed that plan! Heather got a phone call at 9 in the morning telling her that the guardian ad litum was making a surprise home visit that afternoon at 3! Oh my goodness! Steve and I sprang into action. Two oldest kids were at church camp so couldn't count on their help. We had already painted one room floor but we were not even close to getting the other bedroom floor done. The lawn needed mowed, but guess what? Breezy has been keeping her room sparkling clean and making her bed each morning! So proud of her.
Running over to the house we knew we had to do a makeover in about 5 hours. We worked so hard! By the grace of God we had two distinct bedrooms set up in the basement, the rest of it cleaned, grass mowed, house cleaned and we were good to go.
Ooops, of course it couldn't go without a hitch. Steve went up to wash paint off of his hands in the kitchen sink and I was switching out laundry when I started getting rained on! Oh no, this could not be happening! Called the property manager and explained the situation and they had a plumber out to take care of the problem. In fact, he came in just after the lawyer did! Thank you Julie for getting him there so quick!
We were at home, waiting nervously for word on how the home visit went. Well, it went great! Breezy showed off her new bedroom, took her downstairs and she was skeptical of the girls sleeping down there. She asked Kenzie how she felt about it. Kenzie replied, "we love it, we can't wait to finish getting it all set up!" Great answer granddaughter.
The home visit went very well! And as Breezy said to me yesterday when I asked her how it went she said, "it went great Grandma! They are giving us custody!" She was so happy and of course so was I! Of course, I know that is just what is recommended to the judge if it would still go to trial...but his is the lawyer hired strictly to represent Breezy in this bitter dispute!
Very happy with the results of all the hard work we did! That is how we celebrated our 21st Anniversary and finished off with Taco Bell for dinner. But the best present we could have wished for was given to us because of that home visit! We are blessed!
