For Halloween this year a bunch of employees and myself dressed up-there was an assortment of costumes from the X-Men, to cops to Vampires, Knight, a Cat,--I was a Swat Team Cop. I had the police hat and swat gear-minus the badge, fake gun and handcuffs. the reaction of strangers who came near me was quite funny. Some looked very guilty-a few turned pale and the look on some was" what is a cop doing here?" Little did I think that that was the end of it as a total stranger- a woman boldly asked me just last week
" So, where is your costume...?"--I said well that it was Halloween and joked about it and walked away--making me wonder what was she thinking about??
In the paper last week I read that the 50 shades of Grey novels were giving women the freedom to voice their desires more boldly to men. My encounter with the customer was bold but didn't strike me as admirable either-The book series by E.L. James or even Halloween is merely what it is-a Fantasy-whether done for one 24 hour period or slickly packaged in a series
Later when I thought about my dressing up as a Cop I wondered what would have happened if I had dressed up as a prisoner from a county jail in some sort of orange outfit??
Perhaps the women would have been a lot bolder and I may have found myself even " arrested " by a few of them--Maybe I should just try and be Big Bird next year??-LOL
