Dear Little Friend 7/3/2007 11:44:32 AM
dogs, companions, frinds, mother, love, loyal,Scooter Scooter was my Mother's dog. I always thought he was a pain in the neck. She worried about him all the time. Was he was happy? did he eat? did he have water? she fed him from her plate with me fussing about it because it seemed she gave it all to him. She was protective to the point of driving everyone crazy. The whole family hated him because we could never do anything without Scooter. I Tolerated him. Then my sweet little mother passed away. No one wanted Scooter. I took him only because my Mother loved him. Then I began to notice he wasn't such a bad little fellow after all. He was very well behaved and craved attention from me. Me who couldn't stand him. I think I reminded him of my Mom. He followed me everyplace and waited patiently to be fed and watered, The only thing he asked was if he could sleep with me at night. That took some getting used too on my part. I had never owned an inside dog. It wasn't long before I figured out as much as I loved my Mother, it was her that had been a pain in the neck where Scooter was concerned. She just loved him and he was her constant companion. He was like a child to her. That I came to understand as I grew more attached to him as time passed. I became my Mother, a pain in the neck where he was concerned. My children told me so. Then as life has its way of aging, I lost Scooter to cancer. He had a tumor that grew to be almost as big as he was. His spirits were good right up to the end. I didn't want to give him up. I still grieve for him, as now I write this with tears in my eyes. He was my dear friend and little companion for five years. There can never be another Scooter.
