A thought The house was warm this morning, ordinarily it is a little brisk in my room, I like a cold room for sleeping. As I made my way down the stairs I looked out on a winter wonderland again. The snow had all melted from the last storm we had and I was not really expecting this, most unusual for this part of Texas. Its funny when it snows the house seems warmer, guess it fills up all the cracks and seals the warmth in.
My granddaughter Kristina was down from Denver for her maternal grandfathers funeral yesterday and had to start back this morning. I hope this storm misses her and her little family.
It was a blustery cold day standing by the grave side. There was a tremendous crowd gathered as he was a much loved man with many friends and a large family.
During the service the minister likened a mans life to that of an onion. When you peel away the worn and frayed edges you find the good beneath, pure and unblemished. Sometimes life beats us up over the long years of hard work and struggle and though the body grows old and scared the unblemished is still there hidden inside. Often this purity glows from within and is like a shinning light. People see and gravitate toward the love, warmth, and kindness of a man and he leaves behind a legacy of friendship. Such was this man.
