Hello Gentle Readers!
March is here, and in my neck of the woods, that means people are starting to hit the beaches. It means suntan lotion, surf boards, bike week, and spring break. Easter is coming and we are being teased with nice weather, altough all the bad stuff isn't completely gone. There's a fifty-fifty chance that a couple more freezes will hit before real spring has sprung.
Me, I'm having a pretty good week this time around. I had a bit of mild depression last week, mostly because of work, having way too much to do and not near enough time to get it done in, and because I don't yet have a contract on anything beyond this May.
Still, I am hopeful, even more so after yesterday, but I'll get to that in a moment. I just felt like I was in danger of being obsolete. Life is tough on the other side of the publishing coin, too.
One thing this business as taught me is that sometimes things are good, sometimes things are bad--you just have to ride the wave. Like swimming in the ocean, you can't always take the direct course back to the shore. Be patient and don't panic, and you'll get there.
Of course, I did have a couple of nice things happen. 4 star review from Romantic Times Bookclub Magazine for my April Zebra release, IF YOU COULD READ MY MIND, for one. That always makes me feel better.
I also have opened up yet another story that I think I would love to write, and it's flowing like a river. That's good.
Things are stalled on my option book, but then I knew that might happen. Sad, but not the end of the world. I just have to get a true rejection before I'll give up the ghost on that one. Label it in limbo for now.
The good thing? I talked to my agent yesterday on the phone and she is very supportive. It is such a cool thing to have a proffessional industry person in your corner. She has sent my proposals out once again, and the problem with the first send out was geography, not my writing. Of course, I know there's the chance it won't work out, but, hey, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.
There's no harm in trying. If you don't send the work out there, it'll never be rejected. Of course, it'll never be bought either.
So, that's where things are. It's the middle of my half of the week and I have got to finish my synopsis for my fantasy book. Everybody take care! Happy reading. Pam.
