or, what you get when you mix fate and physics, a ceramic tile floor and a skateboard.
Hello Gentle Readers!
Just a short note here to say hi and to report in on what's been going on these days since I've been off-line, or rather off-blog.
I have been meaning to stop in and blog for a few weeks now but an unfortunate accident has kind of minimized my writing time. Not that I don't have the time or the motivation to do much writing but, (and I should probably write butt here), um, I've been benched, or rather not benched, as it were.
Well, there I was, minding my own business, when fate and the laws of physics kinda took me for a ride and dropped me on my behind, literally. The laws of physics meaning that what goes up must come down--hard and on a ceramic tile floor--and fate in that me plus a poorly placed skateboard were destined to meet and separate in a very un-graceful event.
In other words I tripped on my daughter's skateboard and landed on my behind, bruising my tailbone, ribs, and smacking my head on the floor. Almost 21 days later and I'm still very sore and unable to sit for long periods of time, or even for short periods of time without pain meds.
Now, being a mother of two, having experienced live childbirth both times, I thought I knew pain. I've had the usual bumps and bruises, scrapes and cuts in my life. Fortunately, I've not had to endure that much pain. Until now. For the first week my ribs were so sore I couldn't take a deep breath, and now, I still can't lay on my right side for more than about an hour.
The worst part? I can't sit down for long. I mean, no surface, carseat, chair, or even bed is comfortable for very long.
So, I hope you'll forgive my absence here on the boards.
Fortunately, though, I only missed a week's worth of work, and a few of my kids's dance classes. I'm writing for short periods and it is indeed a blessing. I am really spending time thinking about what I want to write, but in truth, nothing replaces the act of really sitting down at the keyboard.
The good news is that before my fall I was able to have a long telephone conversation with my agent and now my Paranormal wolf story is in full gear. I'm really excited about it and see it going into all out kick-ass mode here in the next couple of weeks.
Everyone keep their fingers crossed for me and maybe I'll be getting some really good news out here in the next couple of months.
