Hello Gentle Readers!
It's been a few days since my last entry, so I thought I'd stop here before I get down to my usual writing schedule. It's been an eventful day in my house.
I woke up early, refreshed for the beginning of my next three days off of work. I mopped my kitchen floor, did a load of dishes, and threw in a load of laundry. Then I enjoyed a long, hot shower. A perfect day?
I think not.
My idyllic existence ended when I was unloading the washing machine and heard an unearthly humming at the bottom of the wet clothes. Yep. I washed my daughter's cell phone.
Way to go me. Of course, we ran to the phone store and learned it would be no less than $298.00 to replace it.
And because I didn't pay extra for the insurance plan, I am minus one cell phone. Argh!
My daughter blames herself for leaving it in her pants pocket. I know I'm at least partly responsible because I negleted to check the pockets, which has long been my ritual at the washing machine.
Thank heavens, all is not lost because by the virtue of ebay, a little secret knowlege, and a benevolent friend, I now have ordered her a new phone, at a fraction of the price.
Also, I'm trying to 'bake' the old phone on the dash of my car, which may make it usable long to get her pictures off of the phone's data storage. That way, when the new one arrives, all will be well in my world once again.
Hooray!
This whole situation has reinforced my long held belief that doing housework is bad. It should be avoided at all costs!
As for the writing life, there is a little bit of news. I've sent out two more proposals--two different books, two different genre's, and two different publishers.
Now I know why a writer should enter contests and collect all the compliments and good reviews she can. Its what gets us through the long, dry spells when we are anxiously awaiting the next contract.
The only way in to survive in this business is to be persistant. So, this is me, being persistant. Nobody said it was going to be fun.
Okay, on to other things.
I went to see three new movies the last few weeks. Here's how I rank them:
Shrek the Third
Spiderman 3
Pirates of the Carribean 2.
Quick comments. Still love the big green guy and all of his friends. Best supporting actor for this movie just may be...
The Gingerbread Man!!!
Spidy 3, while having huge plot holes, was still an endearing love story and enjoyable to watch. Anybody else glad to see Eric from That 70's Show? I know I was.
Pirates 3 was my least fav. High on humor and Special effects? Sure. Story, Plot, and Characterization? Not at this movie. Entertaining for the moment, but totally forgettable. Bleh.
Favorite songs of the day? Right now I'm listening to Kelly Clarkson's Breakaway album. Um, nice songs, good vocals. Next, it's Rascal Flats.
What am I reading? Lori Devoti's UNBOUND. Awesome contemporary Paranormal in Silhouette's Nocturne line.
My Recs? Anything by Sophia Johnson. Currently she has two books out: RISK EVERYTHING and ALWAYS MINE. Both are medieval historicals, and terrific reads! Read only if you're into strong, smart heroines and awesome alpha heroes.
Next on my list? Irene Peterson's Kisses To Go!
That's about all I have today. I really need to go write.
