Caution: busy week ahead! 6/18/2007 4:50:56 AM
Hello, Gentle Readers!
After working a long, hard weekend, I came home yesterday morning totally exhausted and slept most of Sunday. Except for a short shopping trip and dinner out for Dad's day yesterday, I was toast.
Which means that I've been up since 5 a.m. puttering on the computer and trying to get motivated to do some housework. I still have some contest entries to finish and get in the mail today, and tonight I have two meetings at work.
I did managed to get a query in to a new agent this morning. Thank heavens for the internet! I filled out the online form with my bio and one of my book proposals.
Although things didn't work out with my present agent, she is a dear and has been sending out queries for me to agents she thinks might better represent what I write. I am both sad that it didn't work out between us and thrilled that she takes time out of her crazy busy schedule to help me.
While this is a 'bump' in the road of my writing career, it is one that authors have to face from time to time. To stay in this writing game one has to be peristant.
At the moment I have two propols with two different editors, and two proposals with two agents. As a result I have my fingers terminally crossed, lol.
Last week I had a really great time at a critique/plotting session with my writing buds and we spent time sharing our woes about the writing life in general and then working on our stories. We also had a fabulous lunch that one lady prepared and enjoyed an afternoon spent stretching our writing muscles.
Basically we discussed working on one writer's plot of her first book, another's plan for her new agent--developing high concept ideas, and my plans with querying another agent. Also I promised to work on my current proposals and get them to my partners this week.
So, when I finish here I'm going to work on contest entries I have to finish, then my proposals for my critique group. At last count I've got four finished proposals, three different book proposals in various stages of development.
The only other thing I have to do today is to take my husband to the computer store. The c.d. drive on his computer went belly up and he and the girls are going nuts because they can't load anything onto it. As a result, I-Tunes and games are in jeopardy, threatening total chaos.
So, now I'm off, maybe to put in a load of dishes, or even work on one of my other blog sites. Until next time, happy reading! Pam.
