I was in the right place, but it must have been the wrong time... 4/17/2006 9:39:37 AM
Hello, Gentle Readers!
I know, starting the blog with a cheesy song lyric, (a terribly old, cheesy song lyric, btw) is almost unforgivable, but I'm just in that sort of mood.
After a looong weekend at work where I dealt with stuff too icky to mention here, I stayed up all day yesterday to cook and spend the holiday with my family. Which left me feeling pretty awful and tired. I fell into bed around five and didn't get up again until early this morning.
Still feeling like crap, I perservered and got the girls off to school and headed out for a class on advanced cardiac life support. A sixteen hour course encompassing two days it's one of my least favorite things to do, but unfortunately one that's necessary for my job.
When I arrived, I found another group meeting and soon learned I had written the class down on the wrong day on my calender. Darn. I hate when I do that.
On one hand, it was great to get a reprise on the monopoly of my time this week. Instead I had a nice, long breakfast with my husband, went grocery shopping, cleaned house a little, and started the laundry.
On the other hand, I still have to take up valuable time off next week to take the class. Doh!
Now, I have to redo the entire schedule because the other great time snafu. I have to get my other 20 hours of Parent Involvement hours in for my kids so they can attend the same school next year.
Add to that, I have to schedule in a make-up and hair session in order to get my picture done for the Rita ceremony and it's due in May 1st.
I also planned to finish my option book for my publisher this month, write up at least one more proposal, and finish my workshops (which have now grown to three!!!) due this summer.
Not only this, but it's the end of the school year for the kids, their final dance recital of the season, and the release of my third e-book, THE HANGING BRIDE all comes next month.
I love my family and working and writing, but sometimes I long for a day when my only responsibility is to relax and enjoy the moment.
Of course, families don't allow for such luxuries, and neither do jobs, or a writing career. Still, every once in awhile it would be nice to have a day to do nothing.
Except maybe write in my blog and remember cheesy old song lyrics, that is.
