Meeting with my writing buds tomorrow!
Hello, Gentle Readers!
Making a final stop at my blogging trail tonight, then it's off to write in my personal journal, (something I do as often as I can and highly reccomend to you writers out there!)
So far the writing is going great. I'm chilled after drinking a glass of cafe Zinfindel, and listening the Journey on my itunes. Very mellow, lol!

I've written about the importance of resting, the end of the Sopranos, and prioritizing. Now, on to my next subject tonight--my writing pals.
I know writing is a solitary job. You, the computer, and a whole lot of nothing in between. If we're lucky, and things work out, you might bask in the company of your characters. Sometimes they even work with you. Sometimes it's a struggle from the first word you put down.
That's why it's so important to have writing people in your life. I'm blessed to have family and friends who support my writing efforts. It does make life easier. I certainly wish that for every one of you.
But, you also need people who really understand what it is to be a writer. Join a writing group if you can. And, not just any writing group. One that you can tell all of your troubles to that won't think you're schizophrenic, and that you can offer support to as well.
For me, J. and L. are good friends, but more importantly, they're writing friends. We're critique partners, and so much more. We encourage, suggest, and even disagree at times. We thrive and we share both the successes and disappointments.
I'm getting up early tomorrow, and my friend L. is coming over. We're going ot drive out to J.'s house and get down to the business of writing. Of course, we have to do the actual putting words down, but together we sharpen and polish our manuscripts and motivate each other to continue writing. That's how it works for us.
A caution on writing buds, though. You each have to be free to express yourselves, have encouragement, and listen to constructive, (not destructive!) critism. It means doing your share of the work, too. Give them a chance, and don't be afraid to share all when it's your turn. If it's a positive experience for everybody, then it's a good thing. If not, then either make some changes or get out.
Ours is so good, we're in the planning stages of a 'retreat' this fall. Three days of us in a suite, away from family and well meaning friends, jobs, and responsibilities, to concentrate on plotting and working on our next books. How cool is that? I can't wait. I'll let you know in future blogs about setting it up, and then report back how it turns out. Way, cool.
