April showers, May flowers 5/1/2006 5:23:14 AM
Hello Gentle Readers!
I apologize for not dropping by last week and leaving an update but it was sort of a rotten week and things just went swirling from bad to worse. Nothing earth shattering, mind you, just what I'd classify as 'totally not fun.'
If you are a regular Joe, or in my case, Jolene, you know that though you would like to spend your life waxing poetic in front of the computer, it ain't always so. Like, first off, you have a job. Not just any job, but one of those that, if you let it, could suck the life right out of you. I'm not saying that about my patients, mind you, but rather the political heirarchy that is the job. New policies, proceedures, oh, and yes, continuing education.
In order to keep said job, I had to take a two day class on advance cardiac life support. I've been recertifying for that class since 1984, by the way. You would think I know it by now. Not so. Worse yet, there are big changes on the horizon because somebody finally said, 'Hey, why don't we do scientific studies to see if this thing really works!" Ergo--big changes.
I started off my week last week with the worst case of the flu I've had since childhood. That would have been bad enough, with me feeling rotten during the ACLS class, but my youngest child came down with the Chicken Pox. This was totally so not fair. She'd been vaccinated when she was an infant. I thought we were safe. Obviously not.
Then, between this huge class, running around to get all of my education things together so I can keep my job, I also had the usual tasks of housework, laundry, and, oh, yeah, taking care of a sick kid.
Before I knew what was happening, it was time to go back to work again. Lucky me.
Although not a bad work week, it is now done until Thursday. The worst part about last week? No time for writing. None. Zero. Zilch.
Fortunately, like it says in the Bible. This too shall pass. And it did. My youngest is healed and back in school today, I did do some housework and laundry over the weekend, and I have successfully completed my work obligations until next year. Whoo haaa.
Okay, bring on this week. I'm ready for it!
Oh, one good lesson to take away from all this...I still had time to think up a new proposal for my agent. A really cool story. I'll post more about it later. Heh, heh. I want to keep you guessing.
Everyone have a great week! It's the first of May and I don't know about you, but I am soooo ready for the summer. Bring it on.
