Somethings are more precious than others -- a special gift, laughter, good health, dear friends and faithful family are just some of the gifts I call special. Not all gifts come in shiny boxes with pretty ribbons. I attended a special luncheon honoring an old friend yesterday. I met her years ago and she was so friendly and kind I liked her immediately. It didnt' matter than distance separated us and after a while with changes in address and email, we lost touch. But yesterday she greeted me with a familiar smile and we became friends again. We've always been friends I guess but not touching ones. I've come to the conclusion that distance is not a menacing thing separating people but something that just parts us physically. I have other friends who fit into that category and sometimes I wish I could see them more often but in my heart they are very close to me no matter the number of miles that come between us. I know they are there and they know I'm here. The blessings we share are priceless and I guess that's what a real gift should be -- priceless.
